Centuries before the arrival of the Romans in our land, somewhere around the powerful karstov spring, near the former perushtinian neighborhood Pastusha, the Thracians have established their own settlement. In the area were discovered 29 mounds, the most famous of which are the Duhova mound and the Banova mound.

Somewhere in the middle of the XIX century in the fields, among which towered the Duhova mound, localpeasants found, by chance, traces of impressive Roman baths and other public buildings, as well as a draining channel. Further excavation of the spiritual mound revealed several war chariots, associated with the funeral rituals of the Thracians. A magnificent marble head of a man in natural size was also found, and with it other statues of ancient gods and goddesses, votive tiles and coins minted in Philippopolis.
